Never meant to hurt.
Hurt any of you.

(Chorus)
(But I can't let you near.
For all the time
that we've spent together,
I'm sorry, I can't let you in.)

I'm sorry that I've hurt you.
Sorry if I've ever hit you in anger.
So sorry if I ever brought
a single tear to your eye.

(Chorus)

I wish upon every star
that I could make it alright.
I never wanted to break
a single one of your hearts.
I should never have borken anything
I simply never had the right.

(Chorus)

I've hurt myself by hurting you.
I'm sorry if I did.
I apologize if I had
you hating me at all
if even for one second.

(Chorus)

I'm deeply sorry
if when I leave
ad fade away
you are hurt.

(Chorus)

I'm sorry for my words
that were said in anger.
I'm sorry for not being there
right when you needed me most.
I'm sorry if I ever hurt you
it was not my intent
and I never had the right.
I'm sorry that I can't
make things right.

Apologies aren't enough in most cases. Those uttered words cannot make the pain and loss of faith and respect go away. Some people may try to forgive and that is great, but to forget, that is not possible. Too many times the apologetic person just turns around and does it again. Apologies just are not enough.

Great poem, Black. Apologies can mean the world or nothing at all. Great job.

Apologies, when they are true, may heal much, but only when the other will accept them for what they are. Hurt begets hurt, and apologies may be rejected, which may be less wrong than the first wrong action, but is still not right.
What we need are hearts that an accept hurt without returning it. Hearts strong in a sort of weakness.
Ah, for a heart like that...
Well done, Jeff.

This is the essence of life plainly and simply put. I bet it would be beautiful to hear sung.

good poem Jeff I think this poem showed a soft side of you that many people are loathe to show. In any case I'll stop playing counsellor and commend you for writing another awesome poem.

Wow... that is exactly what I'd like to hear from someone... too bad it's not you. lol. An apology might not be enough, but at least it shows you care and regret hurting someone. Sometimes, that can be enough.

Well for me most of the time an apology is not enough but it does hold some meaning.
Well said.
