Despair and Fate

Contributed by hawaii06 on Tuesday, 8th June 2004 @ 08:31:46 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Have you seen the pain and anguish I have
Despite your desire need to be loved?
Your love is no competition to mine,
For my love is pure and true.
Though the ring is on your finger,
His love for me shall remain.

Sister, don’t you see that he is mine now?
Although his love remains with you
His heart is now split in two.
He may still have passion for you,
But we are now wed and I carry his child.
You see your future is with Mama
At least until she dies.

You believe in family tradition?
Have you seen what tradition has done to love?
For now I resent Mama and I’m
Starting to resent you.
We can’t fight forever,
But my fate can.
For the love he and I have is
Forever true!

Sister, yet again, I say,
His love is now mine.
Your “Secret” love crush is now broken,
Just make sure no one sees the two of you.
I never want you to come near my child ever again.
Don’t teach my child your filthy ways.
My child will be taught family tradition.

Sister, we can not fight.
Though the love of this one man has torn us apart,
The love of family should last, although it will not.
We know that family tradition has torn us apart,
And we will never again believe the same.

Jamie Burkholder

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
