[hometext] => This poem was written in compliance to a requisition to write a poem about emotional apathy engendered by prolonged suffering.
[bodytext] => Beneath the tundra lies deep permafrost, Desperately cold and utterly lost. Peer within those murky dark depths to find, Signs of forgotten life, dormant and blind. Beasts in hibernation, benumbed sleep, Dulled by overexposure to pain heart-deep. But those slumbering creatures of carnal rage, Can yet be roused from their solitary cage, To stalk over glaciers beside feral bears, And spread their graceful wings to soar the airs, Free of self-imposed suppression at last; All it requires is the acceptance of one’s past: And to embrace what lies in futurity.
