Array ( [sid] => 51015 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Riley Daniel [time] => 2004-06-08 17:59:15 [hometext] => I wrote this poem for my little brother who died from SIDS. I was the last one to see him alive when I came to him in the middle of the night to hold him while he cried. I put him back into his crib and the next morning we found him dead. [bodytext] => I remember when I use to watch you sleep silently in your bed.
I wondered what dreams were going through your precious head.
Your face was pressed against your pillow
Your hands tightly clenching the quillow.
I looked to find your unseen blue eyes.
That would leave me like always, hypnotized.
Your soft, moist lips were perched together
You hair was like a floating soft feather.
I moved your hair off your face with my hand.
But you seemed like you were in another land.
Remembering when I use to touch you and you rolled onto your side.
You then broke out into tears that you then cried.
I remember when I reached down and held you in my arms.
I then started to rock you, trying to keep you from all harms.
I remember when I sang you a lullaby; and you would start to snore.
At these times, I knew, I couldn't have loved you more.
I would slowly lean down and kiss your soft cheek.
"Oh why little brother, why did you have to be so weak?"
I remember carrying you one last time to your soft bed.
Wondering now in my heart "Oh dear brother, Why are you dead?"
