don't bother talking
your voice just soaks into the walls
it disappears in the background
it's a fading song
don't bother talking
everything you say is a lie
it's one of those lies that sticks in the mind
i once believed those lies you told
but now they are getting old
i used to believe every word you would say
but know i've learned to stay away
i don't want to go
but every lie you say
makes me stray away
the only reason i stayed this long
is because i thought you could change
but now i know you can't
and i'm not gonna pretend you can
so i'm just gonna walk away
and don't bother talking
becauseno matter what you say
i'm not gonna stay

| You've expressed this well. I had these feelings about my ex - he could make anyone believe what he said (mostly by making himself believe it first). It wasn't until I actually heard him lie to someone else that I could finally break the chains... |
