As I labour, in vain, to redress these failures
Screaming, unheard, at the top of my lungs
I can't continue on I can't, I can't,
I can't...

I fall forever, condemned, banished
To this pool of Repugnance
Where wide-eyed 'convicts' eye me lustily
And seek to wrong me in unthinkable ways
Oh please, please rescue me from this hatred

I entone with toothless entreaties
To whomever will listen
And in doing so comdemn my body to the flames
As I fight a see-saw battle deep within
Striving to redeem my soul

On my knees. weeping, before my punishment
Fingers trailing in this pool of Repugnance
Striving to remain whole amidst the madness
And remain pure amidst the immorality,
But sadly a thoughtless, futile gesture

Beside my homicidal fantasies I sleep
Resting morosely pondering death
Fingering my scarred wrists
And the life they do not bleed
For I have been born into pain, raised in fear

I stare into the pool of Repugnance
And my reflection stares back at me
Marred only by the ripples
That my tears create
And this loneliness is so haunting

My eyes are sewn closed
And my teeth kiss this barrel
Shoved into my quaking hands
As death corrodes my features
I pull the trigger, but not before I smile
The reverbration makes the pool shimmer
It slowly turns red as the waves
Caress my body futilely attempting to save me

Seriously nice, Joel . . .

Lol I'm telling you what I think of it on msn at the same time as I type this, so I'm not too sure what else to add . . . but anyhow, my compliments. This was definitely one of your better ones. Gotta love that trademark "whoa that's vivid" imagery of yours.

And the darkness in it's just so chilling, so awesome . . . "I pull the trigger, but not before I smile"-- I just love that part.

Seriously good job.

I don't think you're full of yourself at all, every poet has a favorite poem they write, and I agree, this one's one of my favorites by you...

It's been forever since I've been on here. God I've missed it. Your poem was the first one I read, and I must say, it was an amazing poem to read on my come back to YPDC.

I absolutely love this. It is amazing.

"Fingering my scarred wrists
And the life they do not bleed"

Would have to be one of my favourite lines.

I'm glad you're still posting, and I'm definately on my way to post some more poems. Great to see some of your work again Joel.

Joel,

This is one of the best poems I've read. You have no idea how much I relate to this piece, with my whole heart and soul, you spoke to me. You spoke directly at me. This was phenominal. Absolute bittersweet perfection! Great Job, my friend. Wow. :)

Sadness cloaked my heart as I read this. I just want to reach out and give you the biggest hug.

I love the way you place words into lines and make them poetically artistic. No matter the subject or genre you have so much talent and every poem is an example of this.

Because I see so much talent I wish you could write one of all the good things in life. I know you could write about anything and I hope the feelings in this poem were just the brain food of a genius and not your true feelings inside.

You do realize i'm here J any time, okay.

Impressed as always with your work. :)

Dude, you're ***** full of yourself. omg.

riiiight... ;)

good poem... you should like, build a rec center around this pool of repugnance and the pool of apathy and all your other pools and mindlessly deceived children can swim in them for $3.50

i like the eyes sewn shut part.

and i must say that turned me on, about the uhh:
"Where wide-eyed 'convicts' eye me lustily
And seek to wrong me in unthinkable ways
Oh please, please rescue me from this hatred"

you know joel... i eye you lustily too, (with wide eyes of course) however i dont hate you, i love you, i love you, and my actions upon you would be far from wrong (oh so right) i love you, i love you...
