Perish at the Thought
April 19, 2004
What is it about dancing in the moonlight,
The music almost too far off to hear,
In your arms,
That melts me?
What is it about your handwriting,
On the scraps of paper,
You write,
For me?
What is it about the glance I see,
In the corner of your eyes,
While you're talking to a friend,
But thinking of me?
What is it about your hand,
On the back of my neck,
Soft and gentle,
Luring me?
And what is it about your fingers,
Laced in mine,
As we walk, and I talk,
And you're listening,
To me?
Why can't I get your touch,
Out of my mind?
The touch of your palm,
On my waist,
As we dance?
Why can't I make your words,
From my head,
Turn to whispers instead,
So I wouldn't have to hear,
Your voice so very, very near?
Why do your eyes,
Seem to stare,
At me, even when you,
Are not there,
So I can't stop feeling you watching me?
What makes your presence last,
Long after you have gone,
The air so different, where,
You stood, standing there,
Your kisses on my hair?
And why can't I get your love,
That you have left me with here,
To perish at the thought,
As you have gone,
And yet stayed, so very, very near?

OH... I like this a lot! It is incredible tender and full at the same time. All those wonderful little (but not really little) things! Very nicely done! |
