[hometext] =>
[bodytext] => He came around each corner fearful,
As if he expected death To meet at anytime. Followed by the cat he raised Back home – such a faraway And alien concept now – He staggered forward, toward The pile of rags And cardboard boxes he had left there That morning, Before he went hunting for food – or death. He laid his tired body on a Ripped blanket, This adolescent warrior of life, And pneumonia sighed out of his lips While his lungs bubbled And his hands held his cat In his lap, but not in time; The cat would not be held. The wind picked up and carried The murmur of death over the boy. The cat forgot her aristocracy And crawled up next to the Now horizontal boy, this creature With no soul, and tried to stay warm, As the heat left the young boy And death whispered his last reply To a prayer lost In an indifferent world.
