TWIN TOWERS A POEM OF REMEMBRANCE

TWIN TOWERS
A POEM OF REMEMBRANCE

Sitting in my storied tower,
Keyboards rapping every hour.
Looking out I see a plane,
Getting nearer through the windowpane.
It seems to be low; it’s not very high,
Clearly visible in the warm blue sky.
Destination straight for the tower,
Travelling fast at many miles per hour.
I ran to the back of the office floor,
While frightened people escaped through the folding door.
Engine noise so immense, I could see pilot’s faces,
Suddenly it hits, a fireball embraces.
Glass explodes; bricks start to fall,
Shrapnel splayed like a rifle ball.
The building shook as if in an epileptic shake,
How much more could it possibly take?
Malodorous waves of air infuse,
Panic, mayhem, some smoldering shoes.
Again I here a plane getting nearer,
Our fate couldn’t be planer or clearer.
Building rocks, impact take two,
Massive trembles, we all huddled and knew.
I starred out of the shattered shell,
As flames engulfed I leapt and fell.
As I fall the tower is gone,
As if destroyed by a nuclear bomb.
Rushing air then oblivion takes hold,
Dust motes spiral as the disaster unfolds.
I stare down from the gates of light,
Tears endlessly falling as I scour the site.
How could man commit such terror?
Something so evil not by trial and error.
My heart goes out to those that died,
We feel for you inside worldwide.

The UK will always remember our US friends that died.
MARK.WELLS

A very touching and heartfelt poem. Causes me to remember the attack which both shocked and united our nation at the same time. Results simular to the bombing of Britain during the second world war. The U.S.
truly has no better friends than Canada and the UK. Thanks.
