Apologies (Verses for Mom)

Contributed by mdmorash on Sunday, 6th June 2004 @ 01:57:17 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

(Verse)
Let the angel’s breath brush your hair aside.
Let the pain slip from your world.
For all you’ve done, for all you’ve given.
A queen’s ransom you will hold.

(Pre-chorus)
Still I don’t have the voice to say the words.
All those words that I should have said.
Like, “I’m sorry”, or “Forgive me”.
Apologies I’ve left unsaid.

(Verse)
No you never stopped, you kept on giving.
Even when I gave no thanks.
And you gave it all without taking.
I just took until I sank.

(Pre-chorus)
Still I don’t have the voice to say the words.
All those words that I should have said.
Like, “I’m sorry”, or “Forgive me”.
Apologies I’ve left unsaid.

(Chorus)
So…
Tell me what to do now that you’re gone.
Tell me what I did; I did so wrong.
Is it in your eyes, I just can’t see?
Apologies.
Still so many words I just can’t write.
And so many notes I’ll never play tonight.
Somewhere in between you’ll find my tears.
Apologies.

(Verse)
I never thought and that’s my sin.
Lord why’s it so hard to say these words?
For all you’ve done, for all you’ve been.
You’re the only sparkle in my world.

(Pre-chorus)
Still I don’t have the voice say the words.
All those words that I should have said.
Like, “I’m sorry”, or “Forgive me”.
Apologies I’ve left unsaid.

(Chorus)
So….
Tell me what to do now that you’re gone.
Tell me what I did, I did so wrong.
Is it in your eyes, I just can’t see?
Apologies.
Still so many words I just can’t write.
And so many notes I’ll never play tonight.
Somewhere in between you’ll find my tears.
Apologies.

(Bridge)
And now I see the end is coming.
Tell me, what is right if I’ve been wrong?
And have I been to long in this darkness?
Tell me, am I blind and for how long?
I know my time it has been shortened.
Tell me, just how much before I’m gone?
Is there time for our grand finale?
Tell me; is there time for one more song?
Tell me, that there’s time for one more song.

(Instrumental / Vocals ad lib to end)
