one more time
as you dress
and brush your hair
and if i should weep
as it all falls apart
just pretend that i'm not there

can i hold you
one more time
breath you in
and hold you in my lungs
like a final breath left to linger
touch every part of you
one last time
so that my fingertips will always remember

can i kiss you
one more time
please understand it won't mean a thing
just a memory to take with me
and recall when the night finds me alone

can i tell you i love you
one more time
so that my lips will have a chance
to say goodbye
to the words i'll never speak again
so that my heart will have a chance
to mourn over
a truth i'll never know again

can i walk away from this
just so i'll never hurt you again
do i have that strength?
yes, but only if
i never look back again [comments] => 6 [counter] => 197 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

Only someone who has truly been in love,
can write such beauty.
Your words are very touching, and very easy for myself to relate. Keep up the GREAT work.
