Highway Message

Contributed by Lia on Monday, 14th October 2002 @ 08:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Traveling down south highway 34
Worn out tires beating against the asphalt
Time rolling away on the clock
The sun stealing away your glances

Chirping chime signals awakefullness
Ocean blue eyes rubbed by angelic hands
Soggy cereal waits in a red plastic bowl
Hear the cries of a babe waking from her dreams

Pungent smell of cattle trembles on the breeze
Dust pounding against the paint of the car
Smooshed face of a dog in the window passing by
Halting only for a second at each red light

Desperate search to find what's needed
Softest touch of lips upon my cheek
Staple my gaze down the hallway inside
Pressence of time has just been released

For one simple instance
I find myself on south highway 34
I ease across the pavement
My thoughts drift to you

For one precious moment
Our paths fall in sync
My tires kiss the pavement
And it travels straight to you...

It's nice to see that love flourishes even at a time when routine seems to rule the day. Good write.
