Within the darkness stirs something much older
Than the dirt slowly shifting beneath my bare feet
Or the ancient artifacts hidden under seas
Through the air flows a power no human has felt
It tickles my spine, like a lover makes me melt.
Before Earth there was a land unlike the paradise we see
It’s fable is whispered covertly among the trees
This land had no mountains, deserts, jungles or open seas
It was a land of dust and ruin, yet veiled in sadistic beauty
Still, at night, the spirits from this forgotten realm still roam
Angry at the creatures that have taken over their home.
So watch out for the night, it has eyes in the very air
They will seduce you, take you only God knows where
This is what they told me, and I wouldn’t accept their word
For the idea of dark, sadistic spirits seemed totally absurd
Now here I am standing between all space and time
Staring into the darkness, into beautiful, enchanting eyes
Everything in me is pulling, wanting me to run to their embrace
Until I feel, not liquid but not air, enticingly stroke my face
Suddenly the arms of an evil darkness wrap soothing around my waist
And I exhale, closing my eyes, wondering vaguely what is this place?
The demons move about me in circles, they chant my demise
While soothingly they murmur compelling lullabies.
And now I’ll sink deeper, into their irresistible spell
Until, too late I’ll find, I’m not in heaven, but in hell.
