Array ( [sid] => 5032 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Time [time] => 2002-10-13 23:15:00 [hometext] => Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about where my life is, where it's headed, and where I want it to be headed. I'm almost 25 and while that's still young, I'm starting to feel old and that I've wasted a lot of time and I'm starting to realize that time will run out. I always had so many plans for myself, I wanted to be living on my own by 23, I wanted to marry and start a family by 25, I wanted to have a steady carreer by now, and none of my plans have been met. I'm still living at home because I have more debt than the United States government, I'm still in school and I've just recently realized I'm majoring in something I have no desire to spend the rest of my life doing, and the future of my love life is frighteningly uncertain. So I came up with these words of wisdom for myself that I wanted to try to follow, but even this I can't do, because my dream relies on someone elses decisions. I guess you can say I'm going through a one third life crisis. It's just that I have this beautiful vision of the future and I'd like to get it started. [bodytext] => The spinning of the earth,
The ticking of the clock,
Time waits for no one.
Time can’t be stopped.
We’re all given our allotment.
How much, no one knows.
If we don’t use time wisely,
We’ll have regrets when our time goes.
Time is made up of moments.
Moments turn to memories.
Reminiscing when your time runs short,
Will you be happy with what you see?
If your answer to this is no,
Perhaps you should take a step back.
Figure out what you want,
And get your life on track.
Don’t put off until tomorrow
What you can do today
Don’t say, “When the time is right.”
For time may be taken away.
The time for all is right now.
Because now is all you’re promised.
You can’t be certain a later will come,
Unless you name is Nostradamus.
Time runs out on everyone.
It will happen to both you and me.
But when yours is about to leave you,
How satisfied will you be?
Make sure you prepare for you future,
But don’t let today pass you by.
Now is all you know you have.
A tomorrow you may be denied.
If there’s something you’re planning to do,
Something you think can wait,
Maybe you should do it today.
Tomorrow may be a moment too late.
Always live for the day.
At the same time, never neglect tomorrow.
Soon today will be yesterday,
And your future may be filled with sorrow.
If it is the future you’re planning for,
Start it today, why wait?
Because that future you dream of,
May vanish, if you hesitate.
And if tomorrow never comes,
But you’ve started that future today,
At least you’ll know your dream began,
Before your time was stripped away.
Plan for, but don’t worry about tomorrow.
You don’t even know you have one.
You won’t until today is finished,
And tomorrow has begun.
Any goals or plans you have,
Start making them real today.
Try to make your dreams come true,
Before your time has ticked away. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 275 [topic] => 19 [informant] => MisterRight [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => InspirationalPoems )

Great write and advice, Curtis... Lately I've been having some serious thoughts about my life..and the direction in which it is going. Funny, up to three years ago, I was totally satisfied with it..(Or maybe I made believe I was).. Now I have some concerns about things I'd like to do..
Enjoyed this anyway...stranger...lol

This is a really good poem. If im not mistaken you wrote to me talking about my poem and how if i changed the guys to girls and school to work. if the person you like has someone take your own advice and see if there might be a future be4 it is too late. remember you'll never know what tomorrow might bring or if it'll even come so try your luck now and you wont have to worry about what if....
