Array ( [sid] => 50316 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Treasure Lost [time] => 2004-06-03 21:56:46 [hometext] => I imagined an illustration of deer, rabbits, raccoons, a couple of chipmunks looking through a split rail fence at a nice new country manor. [bodytext] => LOOK! What a beautiful yard!
MY! What a pleasure to see!
Green as an emerald
Neat as a pin
Lovely as a yard can be!

Oh, what a chore it must be
To keep it so pretty and right
Think of the slugs
The deer and the bugs
The moles that come out in the night

How dare they invade this Eden you made!
How dare they tread on your turf!
You'll spray by day and trap by night
To protect your small piece of this earth

It's precious, you see. Every blade, leaf, and tree
I hear what you're saying, my friend,
Because before you moved in
It was our home and then......
Here we are on the outside, looking in!

(just a little note: I wrote this years ago. One of my first)

Bittersweet. I think you've captured the view point very well. And I must say, you've been a pretty good poet from the beginning, then.
