But mine hasn’t been seen in along, long while,
She was frightened away by all my trauma,
I wish that I at least could have warned her.

She knew nothing of hate and nothing of fear,
Her innocence was the only thing that loomed near,
But I lost her because of this horrible world,
It tainted and destroyed this angelic little girl.

What once was so perfect is now tainted,
She witnessed the awful picture that was painted,
It made her cry, she cried a river,
Made her convulse and her insides shiver.

No child should ever have to see,
Just how cruel and terrifying this life can be,
But she saw it in all it’s hope and glory,
Her fairytale life became a horror story.

Instead of sweets and candy,
She craved the likes of vodka and brandy,
The stories which she listened to of a night,
Were enough to fill even the adults full of fright.

Her head wasn’t filled with fun and dreams,
But the sound of blood curdled screams,
She has shook hands with danger,
Laid with it inside a dark manger.

It’s a shame that this little girl is now lost,
But she was consumed by a tirade of frost,
Never to be seen or heard of again,
Another poor and innocent soul destroyed by excruciating pain.

You paint a very sad picture of a childhood lost. I wish I could say something wise to help you but alas I am not a very good counsellor.

When I read this, I saw myself. It's a darkness that tends to creep out when I write fanfic, but I've learned the child is never truly lost in us-they just know the game hide and seek better than adults.
