Array ( [sid] => 49975 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Acceptance [time] => 2004-06-01 12:38:38 [hometext] => This is a poem I wrote about never being truly accepted by my mother. [bodytext] => I dont understand
what Ive done wrong,
I followed my heart.
I tried to stay strong.
But yet again Ive let you down.
You dont care what I want.
Youd rather I drown.
You dont understand me,
You dont even try.
You dont care if Im hurting,
or dying inside.
Ive tried to live for you,
Ive tried to make you proud.
But Im not perfect,
Im different and loud.
I hope someday youll accept me for me,
and be proud to say Im your daughter,
the person I want to be.
Maybe one day this dream will come true,
and I'll be able to say honestly ,"I love you too."
But until that day comes,
I'll have to stay strong,
and realize
that my life will go on. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 216 [topic] => 65 [informant] => Longhorngal [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

the only person that needs to be satiafied first is that one in the mirror. when that person achieves acceptance, then the rest will follow. good read.
thanks for sharing

Live for yourself, make yourself happy. Let her see that you are happy with who you are and then maybe she will be too and accept you for who you are. My best friend has the same problem and she started not trying to be accepted and just do things her way and eventually her mom accepted it and things have gotten better.

People mistakenly use us as clones, but we are all individual separate and unique. Love ones self is to know ones self and then we have no doubts.

Beautiful write, thanks for sharing.
