Array ( [sid] => 49951 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Virtual Cancer [time] => 2004-06-01 08:57:46 [hometext] => I used to like chatting to people on the net.I used to feel it was a place to make friendships.I never though that was asking too much but it seems it is [bodytext] => This cancer spreads a little more each day
A foul plague that sweeps across virtual land
What sickness feeds lies and false identities?
Today I am your closest friend
Tomorrow just passing stranger

Deceptive this paradise, no more than a trap
The Web that binds us is truly worldwide
Some discard feelings, shed their snake skin
Life takes on new form, notes to rehearse
As actors and actresses take to the stage

Where else could you live a year in a moment?
Give undying love to the face of a stranger
Cry crocodile tears just to seek attention
You play the game where there are no rules
Where the only things broken are foolish hearts

Forgive me if I look upon you with pre-programmed doubt
My dream has been tarnished too many times
I see cultures united on common ground
Lips that speak of honour and truth
But eyes seen clearly announce the masquerade

Is it naivety or hope that brings me back ?
To walk through the this field of barren souls
How many friendships have I planted here ?
A seed of faith sewn in someone new
I have watched so many wither and die

This mask you wear to hide your inner self
Your tool to help you play the game
For me there is no defence
No weapons with which to fight
I fear soon I will die, from this virtual cancer [comments] => 4 [counter] => 175 [topic] => 6 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => AngryPoetry )

internet chat rooms were invented for losers who have no real friends.
People like Weird John from next door, who never goes out because he's talking to his girlfriend, his girlfriend who lives in South-East Asia and looks like Pamela Anderson. Hang on a minute John, are you sure that's your girlfriend, because it really does look like a picture of Pamela Anderson that she has just sent you???
hmmmm

You sound just like me...
But those you talk of hate to be exposed.....
A sad world.
