This is dedicated to my friend Scott. He inspires me every day. I've written several poems, both for and about him. This one is the most personal, as it reflects upon some issues I've been having the past few days. I cut myself (on my shoulder, so it could be covered) and Scott found out. He promised he'd not tell any of my other friends, and he helped me to feel better. I wrote this poem, both as a sort of "Thank you" and a way of asking the questions I can't ask flat out.

After all I’ve said and done
How can you still care?
After all I’ve said and done
Why are you still there?

Why haven’t you given up on me?
Still standing by my side
Making me smile when I’m down
Ceasing the tears I’ve cried

I’d hate to be alone here
What I’m saying is true
I don’t know just what I’d have done
If I were without you

What I did was stupid
What I did was bad
Yet you’re still here, though disappointed
You remain not mad

I thought of you as I cut
My shoulder with that knife
I realized just yesterday
I’d trust you with my life

My life, it isn’t much, I know
But it’s all that I’ve got
For the one who helped me through tough times
Through problems that I’ve fought

So tell me this, honestly
No lies, just say it straight
How did my actions not make you sad
Even furious or irate?

After all I’ve said and done
How can you still care?
After all I’ve said and done
Why are you still there? [comments] => 3 [counter] => 279 [topic] => 55 [informant] => blackmarker [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 13 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

I really am not sure if I like this one. Actually, it is an amazingly written poem, so nice job on that one, it is just somewhat frightening. My friend has bee suicidal and she keeps asking me why I care so much. It just makes me thing that you will still cut yourself like I know my friend will. People care so much about you and even if you would rather think against is, you mean and do a lot for them... keep your head up. Great write...
