because you always left me
frightened and alone with myself.

Now you're asking for me to care,
but I won't go where you want me to.
I'm so done breathing for you.

I had sworn that I would be there for you.
But still you tried to break me.
You would never admit how wrong you were.

So many words you spoke were lies.
It's all so funny now that you're gone.
My world had to move on.

I'd thrown out every note and picture.
I didn't want to see your smile behind my eyes
and I even threw out the rose you gave me.

It was the first time I'd ever felt lonely
so I wrapped myself in blankets
and hugged my pillows tightly.

Now I can't remember your face...
I'm hoping you're forgetting mine too...
The single tear that I cried for us...

Very poignant. Especially the last two stanzas.
Seems like the simplest things we want in this world are the ones we don't get.
Take care, and hang in there.

Man, this one hit home with me. Try not to be bitter though. I have learned that only makes things worse.

Barkeeper, a round for my friend

amazing poem! I have been through this and still am. Never realize what you had until its gone and even then sometimes you cant help but want it back no matter how much you've been hurt. Nicely expressed!
