I was too damn dumb to realize
That from such fount, the lies will mount
and diminish me in stature size.

I scoffed at those who warned me so,
For I knew more and on I'd go,
I lied away most every day
No one was able to tell me no.

Here we are, the present day,
The time has come for me to pay.
They caught me in an awful sin,
It wasn't I, that's what I'll say.

It mattered not, my innocense,
What I tell you I suppose makes sense,
Like the boy with wolf annoy
The lies I told seem now immense.

So you see, to those who lie,
The path you take is forked say I
Now my friends, the story ends
I'll take my licks for days gone by. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 175 [topic] => 55 [informant] => norm [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

Telling lies---white or tall
is never good
It hurts us all
Oh how soon though we forget
and then we make
a mess of it.

This is quite different from your usual poems.
I must say, admitting to a lie, is much more forgivable than denying a lie. Don't ya think??? ((((norm)))

Ahhhhhhhhthe Day of reckonin'
"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when it is we chose we to lie!
When I was young I lied all the time! I was bored, and so, made up great tales 20 stories tall! Then I learned I couldn't remember them so, I stopped lying out of lack of memory! *smiles* I still do it sometimes tho.....just for practice you know!
Very funny poem from a poet who lies all the time anyway! Teehee
love

Agreed. A simple lie seems to have enough appeal to escalate into tragedy. Well put.
