Things we thought we had time to wait for
The moments spent together, as one
And lives filled with constant fun

I can still picture you here with me
The future planned, I can still see
The dreams, we hoped we’d be so free
Everything perfect, it would always agree

I never imagined this time could come to pass
Always thought forever our time would last
I saw a future bright with hope of me and you
Something that we’d always get through

I didn’t see a body long asleep
Never saw you in a dying heap
A mass of bones and blood and flesh
Forever with concrete and dirt to mesh

I never imagined a devious mind
Trying a way of terror to find
I never saw a building collapse
A picture so horrible, my mind would lapse

I didn’t see a wooden coffin lay
Closed, forever underground to stay
I thought goodbye, I’d get to say
If ever we’d part, after we were old and gray

I’ve lost so much, in just one week
My goal for life, the dreams I did seek
Without you I don’t know if I can go on
The pain in me, it’s so incredibly strong

Staring at old pictures and feeling sad
Old memories the only thing to make me glad
I want to live back in the past
To be with you, it’d go so fast

Eternity could pass by, but never the thought
That our love could end, we knew it would not
I never imagined my world ripped apart
And a deep wound tore into my heart

I hope you know the love I feel
Forever will, till we meet again
A love no one can ever steal
We still have an eternity to spend [comments] => 2 [counter] => 185 [topic] => 8 [informant] => fbijedi [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 6 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => AmericanTragedy )

this is a really great poem, you have wonderful rythym, the words were rolling right off of my tongue, and it was a very touching poem.
