Our Affair

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 23rd May 2004 @ 08:01:04 AM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

Me and Mark started out as an affair,
But does that make me a ***** who doesn’t care?
We are two people who fell in love,
I suppose we were selfish when push came to shove.

His kids were suffering from all the rowing,
As they could see all the cracks that were showing,
It wasn’t fair to stay just for their sake,
He believed it better to make a clean break.

Affairs are frowned upon in a big way,
The women are classed as Home wreakers even today,
But there is always more than meets the eye,
That means nothing to people who stand by.

The only thing that I feel guilt about,
Is the way that his wife and kids found out,
In a perfect world he would have gotten divorced first,
But that isn’t the way that this balloon burst.

He didn’t just leave his family on a whim,
In his heart he would always keep his children with him,
But he knew deep down that he could no longer stay,
And become increasingly miserable day after day.

He hasn’t seen his daughter properly all year,
His ex is lashing out and won’t let him near,
Although he stopped loving his wife,
He adores his kids and needs them in his life.

i cant believe you've wrote a poem justifying this kind of thing. if things dont work in a marrige you dont run of with somone else you talk it out and seperate you dont start decieving somone who gave you the gift of children! thats wrong. it is a shame he hasnt seen his kids but his x wouldnt feel that way if you both hadent acted in such away you've only got yourselves to blame.

Interesting to see things from this point of view...

The end of a marriage is always a sad thing, but staying in a destructive or unhappy relationship can be equally sad. Either way someone's gotta hurt....
