Cold rain washes gray drudgery over dreams
Instincts dulled by over thinking every thought
Rituals no longer adequate to soothe frayed nerves
The pen stills in the hand; faucet drips smug words
Mocking any attempt to stop the ebb of emotions
Derelict unwashed masses gather at my grave
Waiting to be paid for their tears
My eyes peer through haze of deceit
Desperate wallpaper disguises, layer upon layer
Scrape with bleeding fingers to break free
I am both the prisoner and the jailer
Fooled by ego and arrogance, a dangerous concoction of youth
Strained by sympathy to forever make amends
Cold rain fills my mouth, drowns out my screams

"Even through all of this you will be okay
day still follows night
and hope still comes from tomorrow
dark clouds will fade and so will sorrow
and joy will be renewed when trials are done"

All the things I've felt, but you express them so much better than I ever could. Such a professional polish and yet a realness unsurpassed.
