Touched By A Feather

Contributed by Justalady on Friday, 21st May 2004 @ 12:35:27 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

As the day ended and sleep beckoned, she retired to the bedroom. A warm night allowed her the freedom of sleeping unemcumbered with her gown. She placed it on the chair beside the bed and lay on the inviting cool sheets.

With a settling in of movements she grasped a large pillow, drew it close to her body, feeling secure and loved.

Before very long she entered that special dream like state, but didn't feel as if she were dreaming at all.

He had come to watch her, and... seeing her shallow breathing and the slight rise and fall of her breast sent his heart racing. She almost appeared to be speaking but no sound could be heard, and her half pursed lips seemed to be smiling at something he was unaware of.

Suddenly with a slight turn, she let loose of the pillow and a feather escaped and floated lightly onto her stomach. As he reached to remove it, she felt it and opened her eyes......smiled, took his hand and said, "darling, let it be, it's only a feather."

And so it remained, trapped between them as she now held him instead of her pillow.
