Array ( [sid] => 48397 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Preserved Perfection [time] => 2004-05-20 12:19:55 [hometext] => Rather odd, for me . . . a poem of a necrophiliac. Someone challenged me to do so and (of course) I couldn't resist trying . . . [bodytext] => you were poetry in human form
'luminosity' attained a new meaning
when I first set eyes
--oh, unworthy eyes! to dare to look upon such as yourself--
upon your silhouette

you were beautiful
you were perfect
you were that type of butterfly
(we learnt of it in school, I think)
of vivid coloration
that died the day 'twas born.

perfection never lasts

I couldn't bear to see your beauty fade
I couldn't bear to see your perfect wings wither away
I couldn't bear to watch the flaws appear

perfection cannot last
except when perfect butterflies
are pinned behind the glass

to save your flawless self
I, nobly, preserved your fragile form--
for butterflies which cannot fly
can never rip their wings.

you'll never rip your wings, my love
I'll not let it be so
and naught but death can e'er protect
your iridescent glow

when you'd been pinned behind the glass
I marveled at the deed
your eyes, still perfect, shone so bright
smooth pearls trapped in a face

your fragile, graceful body
sprawled, ever careless,
on the cold hard floor
and I laughed out loud
because now I knew
your beauty'd always stay

your lips, so perfect,
were captured in eternal elegance
parted just-so
and so very alluring . . .

I smiled at the figure you made,
leaned down,
and, ever so gently,
kissed the dry cool lips
of you, my captured butterfly. [comments] => 12 [counter] => 226 [topic] => 13 [informant] => ShadowDaughter [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 37 [ratings] => 8 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

I just wrote something about butterflies. I kinda prefer them alive, so I chase them with my camera. Interesting perspective. A little long maybe.

i'm just reading thru old poems and yours was nothing like i expected. it was actually awesome! i am envious cuz you display so much talent...to show that you can write about anything and make it deep and beautiful and ugly and the same time is talent at it's peak.
