“What is it that you want?
Tell me every fantasy
Tell me every thought
Let me know what you need
And it will be given to you
This is your reward, my son
For all you’ve been put through.”
“Before the grace of God,” I’d say
“These are all my thoughts
These are all the needs I have
These are all my wants
I would like a real nice car
One that costs a lot
Something I could call my own
One that no one else has got.
I would like a couple homes
Placed in exotic locations
In places where I could go
To take my long vacations
I would like a lot of money
So much I would never run out
Make me so rich that I
Would never have a doubt
I would like a private plane
And a private yacht
Let me have a minute to think
There’s something I forgot….
Oh, I would like perfect health
So I can live real long
And a perfect body
So I can be very strong
I already have someone
Who means the world to me
She is so beautiful
She makes me so happy.”
“Are you done, my son?” God asks
In a booming voice
“Are you sure this is what you want?
Is this your final choice?”
I took the time to think about
Everything I picked
“On second thought I’m not done
I would like to change it.
I’d like to change the car
Too much potential to get jacked
I have a car already
I could live with that
I really don’t need that much money
I want to earn it myself
Because it’s easy to become corrupt
With that amount of wealth
And a private plane and yacht
“Private” sounds so alone
As long as I get to travel
I don’t care if they’re my own
And about the homes
I really need just one
Sure having homes around the world
Would be kind of fun
But one is all I need
And it’s all I want
Who will clean the other homes?
Because I know I’m not.
Also prefect health
And the perfect body
You will take me when the time is right
It’s not up to me
Thinking back on what I picked
I have all I need
And anything I would ask for
Would be out of greed.
Cars and homes cannot kiss
And money cannot hug
So as long as I have her
I know that I’ll have love
I think I’ll take a pass this time
But thank you for the offer
I have all I need and want
As long as I have her.”
