Straightjacket Daze
You toss your smile
like a horseshoe
and ring it around me.
I churned saliva into glue
and glued all my problems to you.
But you’ve been gone for a while
and I’m not sure you ever existed.
I’ve stumbled upon
some straightjacket days,
days I just won’t let you go.
My heart is pounding hard but slow.
Now my dog is in Heaven,
my true love is incognito
and I am in a sanitarium aquarium,
daring ‘em to come in after me.
No one can swim to this level,
only sink.
I’ve been reduced to
a straightjacket daze,
telling myself I was never loved.
I think my brain has been bugged.
I dropped my magic wand
somewhere between
the social blackouts and backbends,
the fashion tryouts and dead ends.
I just want to be sane,
can you wrap that up with a bow?
