My Courage has Failed Me

Contributed by Katie2008 on Sunday, 16th May 2004 @ 08:56:33 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

My head is telling me I hate you so much yet my heart is saying that I love you. I wait for the day when I'll get the courage to say,"You need to stop treating me this way." But that day is not this day so I guess I'll just sit around and wait. I wonder what have I done to make you lash out at me in such violent ways? Why can't I be smart and just leave you? And why is my heart saying that I still need you? Please undo these chains that you have captured me with, these chains of blood and iron. I love you so much but I'm afraid of your touch. I wonder if you miss me. I love you so much but I hate you too, your kisses taste so vile. One of these days I will find a way to break my chains of blood and iron and let myself be free. One of these days I will find a way to let you know I hate you. But until the day my courage comes, I guess I'll just sit and wait.

This poem makes me think of the courage it will take you to be free. It will just take that first step.
