Heard is a mournful call of some unknown bird
Crying out, to any earshot prospective mate
"Come, on love-driven flight; End this unbidden exile"

The softness of your cheek to mine still lingers
It fuels an ever-growing pang of desire
A longing for the return of a gentle caress
To be held once more, in the sweet circle of passion's arms

A soft breeze wends its way through the tree -tops
The rustle of leaves, solitary evidence of its existence
That haunting call echoes against the filtered light
And in the dim canopy, a single, gentle reply sounds

Sharing the delicate warmth of your breath
Reveling in the advanced pulse of aware hearts
Savoring the taste of the delicious press of lips
Linger, yet longer, within the delicate fire of belonging

The darkly lit corpse plays host and witness
Nature's demands of survival, rightfully hushed
The dream reflects indentical in us all
We respond to need, answer the call [comments] => 2 [counter] => 178 [topic] => 2 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

It is definitely a longing and need in humans. The caring touch of another sharing love, passion, faith and trust. The entwining of body and soul seem to appease that lonliness we otherwise carry inside us. This is truly a lovely write, Mike.
