In each sweaty palm you saw,.. a five or ten enfold,
In each and every pocket, there were wads of money rolled,
And persperation trickled from the forehead of the bold.

They put their dough on place or show or where their instincts said,
Some bet on win but they will wish for sure that they were dead,
A shot is heard, the wire leaps, the horses they all fly,
The screams and yells from everyone go right up to the sky.

At Belmont, Preakness, Derby Downs, it matters not who bets,
To win or lose, you're there to schmooze before the sun it sets,
If records break, for goodness sake, you're there to just attend,
As long as thrills resound the hills and you are at the end. Nothing like the thrill of a finish.

I liked this one much, thanks for sharing.

Another great. Brings back memories, a day at the races. Win or lose a great time was had by all, except perhaps the bookies when an outsider came in first.

top marks.

bernard.

I've played the ponies
a time or two
it's mostly fun
until you're through
When you go home
with a buck or three
that's just grand
the more for me
But when you leave
with one thin dime,
then you know
it's quittin time
Another fun write, Norm.
Stitch
