has never belonged to me
but the face that i will show you now
is the truest of my lies somehow

a blanket of rust
on lacerated flesh
it drips with blood
it reeks of death
but if you stare too long
into those fading eyes
you'll see it simply
cannot die

this mask i wear
for masquerade
isn't one that i stole
or made
this face i show
to repulse the most
used to be me
now just a ghost

i'm not sure who i am these daze
blurred edges re-create the maze
i'm trapped inside, i can't get out
(but if you listen close, you can hear me shout)

THE MASK I WEAR FOR YOU TO SEE
HAS NEVER BEEN A PART OF ME
BUT THE HATE THAT I WILL SHOW YOU NOW
IS THE TRUTH I DISTRUST MOST SOMEHOW

i'm everyone
from time to time
but when i search for self
i cannot find
the parts of me
i left behind
when they showed me how wrong
they found my rights

now i wait inside
the prison of skin
that i long ago
locked myself in
behind this lie
i choose to stay
growing weaker
everyday

losing my grip on all that's real
acting a part that i don't feel
abandoned in an endless dream
that echoes with my tortured screams

DEAFENED BY MY OWN DAMN LIES
SO LOUD THAT THEY MUFFLE MY CRIES
I CAN'T EVEN REACH OUT FOR HELP
because i'm trapped within myself

everything i thought was me
was just a lie that i told me
don't know what is real anymore
with tears i write upon the floor

if i'm not me then who am i?
if i'm not real can i still die?
my only hope of letting go
this blood's the only truth i know

and as my blood pools on the floor
the lies don't matter anymore
and as numb fingers drop the blade
i say goodbye to my masquerade [comments] => 5 [counter] => 208 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

well this "scrawl" as you call it again had that SOMETHING in it. You play with stanzas and words, you experiment, and that is so important in poetry. I personally cannot stand Shakespearean stanzas. i go nuts!

awsome.
