Array ( [sid] => 47020 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Loreleilied [time] => 2004-05-11 02:29:51 [hometext] => Just a quick explanation of the poem: the title is Lorelei-song.The Lorelei was said to have been a beautiful maiden who sat on a rock over the Rhine. Those who heard her song were doomed to die as they wasted away, enchanted by her magic. [bodytext] =>

schöne Lorelei
von den heimlichen Wäldern
verurteilende

dein Lied widerhallt,
süß und klar, bei den Flüße
von hohen Bäumen,

Heilig und gesund
du gibst jedem Matrose
Tod, auf deinem Fels

meine Sehnsucht nun
ist nach dir, deiner Gesicht
ist jetzt meinen Gral

Ein Leidtragender
wär’ ich sein, heimgesucht in
meiner Traurigkeit

du wirst mich führen
zu einem wässrigem Grab’
Leben gtauscht, für dich. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 365 [topic] => 17 [informant] => Drive_By [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => german [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 85 [ratings] => 17 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Haiku )

ok, i'm confused now...
i don't think i know this language..
but I do know the whole lorelei thing...
it's in a book i read i'm sure...
hmm, was it lord of the rings?
*looks doubtfully at monitor*
i have no idea..
nor do i undertsand the words...
but nevertheless, thanks for sharing...

grateful but befuddled 13 year old girl,
katie

It's a pitty I didn't stick with German classes.
I was intrigued by the title. I know of the Lorelei she-bang. I just thought it was a pretty name, no matter the connotations. Someday I'll name my daughter Lorelei.
I wrote a poem about a friend but disguised her name as Lorelei Amaya because she's a bit shy and wouldn't want her name on the net. Anyway... Thanks for sharing.
Bravo and encore,
love,
Chelsea
