reminds one of the lovely maiden at the high school dance.
Flowing hair and deep rose colored cheeks,
will cause a young male to fantasize for weeks.
But given a few more years, maturity begins to set in,
a loving smile replaces that shy, sheepish grin.
Thoughts will turn toward picket fences, children playing with-in,
if one is fortunate enough, a faithful heart to win.
If indeed one is lucky to find that heart to share,
oh, how important it is to remember, it needs to be treated with care.
Minds need to be filled with happiness, contentment..a promise not to betray
to keep on working to bring excitment...and not forget to play.
The middle years will set the stage for what is yet to come,
what you have accomplished till then, will show what you will become,
either only old and lonely, or content with each other's touch,
while you both remember your youth, and the passion you loved so much.
It will not be the material things you've gathered through-out many years,
that will soothe the aging heart and take away the fears.
It will be the love held for each other, respect and a special loving gaze,
that will carry you both through..what will become the final phase.
