In my youth I waited to become a little older,
growing impatient and wanting to be bolder.
I discovered feelings, and yearnings in my heart,
I waited once more, reading stars within my chart.

I waited for the sun, I waited for the rain,
I waited for the pleasure, and the end of pain.
Love was always hiding, so again I had to wait,
hoping it would never, let my waiting heart break.

Years at my window watching, waiting for tomorrow
that would follow nightfall, and take away my sorrow.
Waiting became a habit, I knew no other way.
It lead me into a life of sadness and dismay.

Today the end has begun, I will wait no longer,
my heart and mind, have finally become stronger.
I need only me, not someone else's shoulder
to lean upon as I've grown older.

Word's I've just now spoken, look well on printed page,
but really are not the truth, as I begin to age.
I will wait again, though I don't know how long,
for the day that I go home, and finally belong.
