I remember your smile, a tender touch
It's been so long, i miss it so much
When we first met and my eyes found yours
Blue pools of tears, behind unopened doors
When my hand took yours i felt numbness leave
Memories locked away, finally i could breath

So much suffering have we both endured
I thought by now we would both be cured
We love each other
But one desires more
Desiring the despair as a child he saw

I found someone who understood my pain
She and i were quite the same
I fell in love again, while still with another
This tore me apart, for they both did smother
The life out of me

She was the key to my pain; i was free from it all
But the other was my life, without her i would be dead

I remember her reaching out to me, tears in her eyes
"just take my hand and it will all be over" she said
I looked at her and she knew
Giving her a hug goodbye was the hardest thing i have ever had to do
Well i guess it's just life huh, oh what fun

She haunts my memories, every tear i shed alone
A part of me she took, i will never be complete
One like her is a chance in a million meet
I had my chance but couldn't take it

So that's how i have to live, this life alone
Not even a photo i have, just a memory
They say it lasts a lifetime
But for me that's what i hate the most

I thank you for what we once shared
We will both die alone

Over and over we retake those paths, what life gives is sometimes what we have, sometimes lost and so alone, but we will never die alone. We retake those paths.

Thank you for triggering this memory, we have walked that path.

I don't have much to say because no matter what I would try to say It would not be enough, so with that, I think you did a very well job at this poem. I loved it. It touched my heart in so many ways. Keep up the good work! ~Stace~

I can't imagine having to make a choice such as this one........Would tear my heart from my chest! This poem was so remorseful also. How do you ever get over something this deep and meaningful?
Beautiful written poem.......with so much meaning, and to end it all alone.
I'm so sorry
love

I've never been in a situation like this but I can imagine how hard it would be to make a choice. This poem was so heartbreaking and beautiful in its entirety. I feel for you.

I relate to this so well, and understand all your conflicting emotions ... but believe that if you had found your one true love, you should have taken the leap and finally lived in bliss rather than dying alone. ... great poem ... Jan
