Array ( [sid] => 46582 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Too scared to fall [time] => 2004-05-07 20:21:32 [hometext] => A poem about missed opportunities and fear of making a leap into the unknown. We all have those sometimes [bodytext] => He stood at the edge of the garden
Such a beautiful, enchanted place
Blossom rained like pink snow, veiled the dew on rolling lawns
In the tallest tree sweet blackbird song
Beckoned with a soothing call
Would he push open the gate and enter there ?
Or stay in his world, too scared to fall.

For many days he had witnessed her walking
Down the gravel path in her dress of white linen
Spray from the fountain fine mist that danced through red curls of her hair
He wanted to call out but his voice had been stolen
His own eyes the weapon of torture to his heart
The sting of longing, desire still unbroken
Legs heavy with fear, too scared to fall

For a seond she lingered
Head bowed to take in the scent of a rose
Soft red lips fell into a wonderous smile
Blue eyes shone mystical light to the depths of his soul
Peace and tranquility wrapped him in their arms
While doubt steadfast held her ground, refusing his passage
He remained on the outside, too scared to fall

This day, as the ones that had passed before
Midday sun retreated to the long shadows of evening
One last look back, turning to the journey home
Heart carried heavily like a rock, unnoticed he would slip away
Peacock calls carried in the still evening air, fanfare for his goodbye
She watched him now at the edge of the woods, gripped by sadness pining for his return
A sigh, a tear from the bluest eyes, like him too scared to fall [comments] => 9 [counter] => 269 [topic] => 32 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Well, what to say. I have goosebumps, and got lost in the imagery, the words, the unfulfilled desire for something that is unobtainable.

We sometimes are too cautious in our lives. Tomorrow may be too late to say or do or take the first step and before we know it, its gone forever, the missed opportunity.

He watching her with longing, she "watched him now on the edge of the woods, gripped by sadness pining for his return".

Why do we do this to ourselves and others? The human race is a funny creature. Fear of what? rejection? who knows.

Awesome. Could write a whole lot more but wont.
