trying hard to earn my pay
(Sometimes you might notice me
deep in some obscurity)
But do not be offended friend
I'm happy as a boy could be
(espeacilly on summer days
my heart flies very far away)

Work life is very hard
bosses working us like dogs
My strength runs deep with in myself
While they order me around
like a dizzy confused clown
my trek is kept clear by one thing.

I keep a song in my heart
it gets me through the work week
Life doesn't seem so hard
When I'm moving to a smooth beat
(I keep a song in my heart)
Life keeps whirling round and round,
but it will never move my feet
to the end of the work week.

Friends are complaining all day
saying the boss is unfair
they ask me how I feel bout it
I tell them I don't really care

This place is just my job
when I am done I punch the clock
That's when the real fun's to begin
I go into the music store
and buy the albums I adore
then I go home and start to sing

I keep a song in my heart
it gets me through the work week
Life doesn't seem so hard
when I'm moving to a smooth beat
(I keep a song in my heart)
Life keeps whirling round and round
but it will never move my feet
to the end of the work week.

I do other things too, but listening to and writing music are my favorites espeacially at work. It sounds like a lovely weekend treat to me. I truly believe that music is a universal language that anyone can enjoy. It just fills my soul.
