I Would Not See

I would not see you lonely without a hand to hold.
I would not see you outcast but brought home safe from the cold.
I would not see you cry if my tears could dry your own.
I would see you had a friend in me when other friends had flown.
I would not see you sad if I could make your sadness light.
I would not see you blind but I would give my sight.
I would not see you toil if I could carry the load.
I would see you had in me a light for the darkest road.
I would not see you die if my death could take your stead.
I would not see you humbled but in pride lift up your head.
I would not see you age if my years could bring you youth.
I would see you had a friend in me to always bring you truth.
I would not see you caged but set free to fly and live.
I would not see you lack for love as there’s always more to give.
I would not see you judged but would your attorney be.
I would see you knew faith and trust could always be placed in me.
I would not see you forgotten but keep you close to mind.
I would not see you lost but know I'm there to find.
I would not see you faultless but accept both good and bad.
I would see you knew I’d tried to be the best friend you ever had.
