The wrap of cloth and down offers meager respite
Unwilling feet plot where they'll tread next
In the lonely dark, hangs the call of hearth and home.

Recognize the passing seasons of the heart
The sole desire, to void the lonely cold
Will this blustery assault ever cease
Can the vision of home renew the spirit?

Thoughts play back and forth of then and now
Was it something said or done, or maybe not
Dark colored wishes for answers...Be home soon
So very cold, tonight. Damn, it's really cold! [comments] => 3 [counter] => 218 [topic] => 61 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

Depression is a hard thing to get through, Mike. In that state everyone feels alone no matter how many people you have around you. The sad part is it affects those around you also. Even though you try hard to keep it from doing so. Strong heart, strong will and strong mind will pull you through. If it lasts more than a few weeks I would seek medical advice.

"Thoughts play back and forth of then and now" Very apt description of how depression repeats over and over in one's mind. "Dark colored wishes for answers" I really relate to that line. It seems that depression is a very large affliction lately. Wonder why? Anyhow, I think you put this very well. I look forward to reading more of your writes.
