the lines that you etched upon your body were beautiful
in their pink rope like fashion. your eyes were gleaming brown and gold
hidden behind the glaze of tears. i never wanted anything more
than to just wrap you up into my arms, and kiss your lips,
and promise you you'd never feel hurt again.
i wanted to trace the scars on your body, telling you you'd never
want to make these terrible etchings again.
i never loved you more except for that day i saw you vulnerable
naked in the mirror counting every scar
