When to most marriage is all the rage,
Don't think I'm going to be like the others,
Get married to please one's dear Mother.

See me wed? You must be dreaming!
All dolled up, kids running and screaming,
Snotty nosed, and that's only the vicar,
Dishevelled guests much beset by liquor.

No bride in shades of white meant for me,
All my life my lads I'm completely free,
If you fancy a ring to seal that link,
You'll spend your days washing at the sink.

Splash money on walking down the aisle,
Don't be surprised by my Cheshire smile,
You want to spend life savings on a lass?
Me, I'm madly, deeply, in love with cash.

Once out the church, confetti, you're a gonna,
Whilst I find out if the Maid still has honour,
A man with camera will capture the day,
When you decided that with your life you'd pay.

For you every morning when you do wake,
The same woman in your bed for heavens sake,
Now you find toil, tension and mighty strife,
Don't blame me for the fact that she is your wife.

The times when you spent at the pub all day,
Weekends in Amsterdam you with lads away,
With marriage you'll find will all disappear,
Excuse me if on my face you find a sneer.

No woman a church will ever get me near,
No chorus of well known hymn will I hear,
You might catch "All things bright and beautiful",
But that, my friend, is only because you are a fool.

And now please get it inside your little head,
That for sure I'll only marry when I'm dead,
By now you know and heed the warning,
I'm only getting married in the mourning.

And we all to often find
ourselves devouring our
very own words and promises
that we made to our own selves
Stay true to you
Keep em' coming
I enjoyed this write

Damn-I like your sense of humour. What's Amsterdam all about?
