That is, someone who you've known forever and you've been friends with just as long.** [bodytext] => I never had a friend forever
For the times are always severed
Changing schools a couple times
Being short on clothes and dimes

Simple things shove friends away
And I just long to say one day
That I’ve known so-and-so so long
And our friendship is so strong

I have tried with many a peer
To have a friend that is so near
Near enough to share my thoughts
In whom comfort could be sought
Someone I can always call
To catch me, should I ever fall

I had Cassie for a year
She was one of joyful cheer
Kindergarten came and went
And to a new school I was sent

I had Amy, I had Danielle
Both of whom were really swell
Then came Ava, best of all
She’s the one that I recall
But then I moved and so ‘twas gone
I came to a new friendship dawn

I found Christen, she’s okay
But she’s not one that’s meant to stay
Emily is the greatest yet
But I am just a silhouette
She’s got Katie, I do too,
But we don’t do things like they do

Paige started out as something fun
It was short-lived and now we’re done
The rest are paired and I’m alone
In some abandoned twilight zone
Forever searching for a friend
Someone to cherish in the end

Tanya holds a candle high
So far we have seen eye to eye
I hope that we can stick it through
And keep our friendship tried and true

But in the end if we should fail
I’ll never tell a lonely tale
For friends are friends no matter what
And I’m just stuck in a small rut

I just want a forever friend
To bring this loneliness to end
Forever friends are rare and few
If you’ll be mine, I’ll be yours too [comments] => 11 [counter] => 230 [topic] => 16 [informant] => liquidsunshine [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 29 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

To a certain extent everyone longs for a forever friend although only a handful have found their eternal friend. I myself want to find a forever friend, but it seems a little risky after the many bad friendships I've been through. Great poem, one I could truly relate to.

Awwwww, I know that feeling Liquid. We poets kinda burn real bright and not everyone can handle it, but you'll find that friend some day. This was a cool read.

That is cool! And I know how you feel. I hope you find that person who is a true and gracious friend. Your poem is very positive.

Sad poem. Everyone truly needs a "kindred spirit." Someone who will ALWAYS be there for you, through thick and thin. I think that everybody shares that same desire as you. I love the way you poured your feelings into this poem. Beautiful.

How hard it is to find someone true! I'm glad to have one chap o' this sort. But it seems you only find one when you're not looking. At least I suspect that.

Often the things we yearn for only come after we've learned to deal without them. God's way of making us stronger, I suppose. We cannot lean upon things of this world.

Hope someone shows up soon, Chels!
Andrew
