through the rustling leaves,
on the branches
of the tall oak trees,
and the birds sing
in the nests above,
on a summer day
in the woodlands.

Hear the water
in the brook ahead:
see it glisten
like some bright diamond.
Feel the wind chill
as we walk along,
on a summer day
in the woodlands.

Oh the conversations
simple and deep.
Nothing's hidden;
nothing is cheap.
And our words are
simple and true
nature truly takes away my blues.

The sky is orange;
I don't want to go home.
We drink coffee.
I have work tomorrow.
But the memories
in my heart will stay
of the day we walked
through the woodlands.

And we'll come again
to this place someday
walking in the woods
with my good friend.

I know this feeling well. I live in the country and spend a lot of time outdoors with my animals and nature. I love to sit by my pond and watch the animals come and drink. The wind talking to the trees is one of my favorite sounds. I love it when my grandsons come to visit and I get to share it all with them.
