Array ( [sid] => 45574 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Unwanted [time] => 2004-04-30 10:27:22 [hometext] => This is my anti-abortion poem, pretty controversial topic, I'm sure I'll get some interesting comments on this one. [bodytext] => As the light streams in, and the darkness fades to a memory
And you take your first breath of fresh air
Open your tiny eyes and see the world for the first time
Think of things you never thought before
As the woman holds you, try not to notice the anger in her eyes
The coldness of her grip
As you try to block the sounds out of your tiny ears
The yelling, screaming, and slamming of doors
And you hope that this violent shaking will stop
Because your tiny body can't handle it
Think of things you never thought before
As the thick fluid pours out of your tiny mouth
And your stomach aches, and your eyes water
Try not to notice the car has started up
And it's going faster and faster, and seems to stop so suddenly
A forward thrust sends you flying like an astronaut
Floating in a world with no gravity
A world you were once familiar with
Before you were yanked out
And as the bag is put over your tiny, abused body
Try not to notice that you can't breathe
As you feel yourself falling, and you suddenly feel a shot of cold
Spread like a disease around your body
Try to forget that you're now completely immersed in water
And that you'll never get a second chance
And that you were unwanted
But hey, look on the bright side
At least you weren't aborted, right?

It was a good write, but i feel strongly against abortions. I think that if you think you are respnsible enough to have sex then you better be respnsible enough to take care of a child. No child asks to be brought into this world, but i dont understand how anyone could kill something so perfect, and so wonderful. Children are miracles, they are a gift, and anyone who doesn't think that shouldn't have kids. Nor should they be breathing at all. I guess i might feel too strong about it, but i love children and people who dont take care of them make me irrate. You poetry is good though, i like your style.

I am also against abortion - maybe even more so as I look into the bright blue eyes of my 22 day old third, and last child. I don't like the poem to be honest because I was so disturbed by the mental images it brought to me. It's not your words or your style - just the opinion that it is okay to have sex and then hate the result of it enough to kill it. As a woman, you know what you are getting into when you lay down and participate and it's not like you have no other options in todays society. There is adoption and to me that is a far better option than carrying the after effects emotionally of such an inhumane choice. This is my opinion. I think you are brave in voicing your opinion on such a controversial matter.
Juliette
