Array ( [sid] => 45254 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Surely Sinking [time] => 2004-04-28 15:09:30 [hometext] => This poem came from a mix of II Corinthians 12, the sunset at the beach, and the heavenly stir which the beauty of nature creates within my heart. [bodytext] => Soft swirls subside
Purple, blue, orange
The glossy paint
Strewn vividly.

The soft, cool sand
Squirms underneath
The ball of fire
Teases the shore.

An array of color
Brings alluring peace
A world seemingly calm
Hypnotized by the waves.

A few moments is all
To enjoy this famed sight
It dips past the deep water
The reflection is lost.

A battle between earth and sky
The inevitable happens
The earth remains victorious
It hides the radiance from view.

So is our interminable battle
Mortal man against a glorious God
With each new day, we find ourselves trapped
Should we surrender, or keep our own plans?

No matter the start
The end remains true
To God our Father
We all will succumb.

We constantly fight
His definite plan
We love our power
Though it is bounded.

It's when we surrender
And admit we've no strength
That our lives will blossom
When we're weak then we're strong.

Pride abides in our hearts
We're encompassed with sin
A blackness in our souls
We are pitifully plagued.

Still, surely we sink
Sink into His will
As falls the bright sun
Falls softly, falls beat. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 171 [topic] => 62 [informant] => eatfresh22 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => spiritual )

A bit long, but good, Carrie.
Keep the poem coming, and don't forget, 3 comments per poem!
Take care, my friend.

I like it!
"When we're weak then we're strong". Ah, how true. You didn't get that from me, did you? Seems kind of deep for just a kid.
Take care dear.

BEAUTIFUL! Ignore David about him saying it's "a bit long"- It is very direct, and so beautifully encompasses that passage. It is perfect! I love how you change from us sinking in sin to sinking into God's will. It is absolutely the best thing be sinking into, is it not? ;-) And I love the reference to 12:9.... surely one of the best Bible verses
