Children die and tortured everyday
Old ones abused and murdered for money
Little ones raped and abused by parents
Ruthless and cutthroat is this big wide world
Fake smiles and robotic stares all around
Emotional abuse unseen yet creating killers
Crushing people on the way to the top
Empty relationships, going through the motions
Wars and tragedies, looking into the eyes of the dying
Music that saddens the heart and depresses the soul
Less and less time for finding any joy in life
Horrific abuse of little minds and in the dark
Crying for help, no-one to listen
Guns and terror, society going into turmoil

Look on the bright side you say
Please tell me where that is?

Perhaps it's better to look at the sun, as you shall never see the shadows [comments] => 10 [counter] => 284 [topic] => 32 [informant] => silent [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

This is very sad yet touching the heartstrings.
It's not always visable but there is a brightside.
U jus have to keep pushing away the dumb ****.
Still u captured this subject well.

There is still beauty in this world. You just have to look into the eyes of parents to see love for a child, or parents that just adopted a child because the can't have one of their own. Handicapped children responding to therapy and getting a sense of self, look in their eyes. Watch a grandparent play with a grandchild or a missionary cleanse a leper. A doctor that has just saved a life that was suppose to be terminal. The beauty of each season as Mother Nature refuses to let man overpower her. Watch a family and see the love and gratitude when their loved one comes home from war. Watch the outpouring of love and care and empathy to people or countries that have lost everything and need help from their fellow man. There is beauty, you just have to open your eyes and your mind to see it and help to make it happen and experience the joy and understand the world does not revolve for just one person. It is for all that care to join in to make it beautiful. That's my sight.

Rita

brilliant poem I loved it...
I agree with the above comments, there is still beauty in this world, you've just gotta know where to look....
Remember, every cloud has a silver lining, and there is always light at the end of a tunnel...
lol I don't think that last quote was even relevant...
ah well, magnificent poem nonetheless...

12 year old who doesn't know what she's talking about,
Katie

It's hard to find, I must agree.
Because all of the above turns even the reddest rose gray and the greenest grass pale.
Hugs,
Hur

Amen, Silent.
I also fall short of understanding where there really is any beauty. Rita, said it best, you have to look for it... and every so often, if your in the right place at the right time, you can FEEL it too. I like to quote the movie American Beauty, "I guess I could be pretty ***** off about what happened to me ... but it's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst ...

And then I remember ... to relax, and not try to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain. And I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. Don't worry ... you will someday."

Sorry its LONG! But it says so much!
Lindsey

PS. Wonderful poem, Silent... Just beautiful.

Its true, there is light and beauty somewhere,
you/we just gotta find it. (you said that to me once i think..or something like that. lol)
hang in there.
*hugs you* phil xxx

your right the tragedy here is most that for these people there is no brighter side, and may never be one. My heart goes out to everyone who has ever had to endure this kind of torture. And being an adult but also a soldier I fight every day to liberate people from that kind of torment sad to say I see it all the time, and it hurts that I can't do more for the kids in our own country who endure this kind of pain. I would gladly give all I have just to end the suffering of even one child. Myself I have a 5 year old sister and I lover her to death so I do everything in my power to protect her. I loved this it was an exellent write. And for the record I am giving it a 5.
