I thought perhaps that I had died.
Then my heart gave a gentle beat
and I arose slowly to my feet.

I touched my face and felt it's skin
and saw my eyes....no spirit within.
My lips could not regain the smile
though I tried, for quiet a while.

But then I heard a tune in my head
it coaxed me back from my dread.
Slowly it rekindled what I had forgot,
as I hugged myself, and cried a lot.

Strange to feel what you know is you,
you know yourself, more than they do.
So I gave to me, faith and understanding,
Today I felt me and became less demanding.

I've been here. You describe it well. Depression can be so consuming and even coming out of it is still a struggle. I liked this.

June, I am so delighted to hear you are beginning to find you again. It is a long road uphill coming back to a state of 'you'. Don't give up, many of us have been through it and all will be back together again. No superglue, just human willpower and love of self.

Rita
