'bout a little girl lost
sank down beneath the quarry
for she was clearly tossed

it's a simple saddened tale
the players all have their bits
the moral is how they failed
someone's lesson of near hits

if you sit real quiet and listen
be very still and hear
it's about a light that no longer glistens
with one long lonely tear

it's a story one knows by proxy
livened up with cries of woe
gathered with misused moxy
left no where else to go

tells of searching in vain for freedom
stolen from her at the cradle
a sick queen in her nighmarish kingdom
and how she dealt malice from her ladle

a little girl's quest for belonging
a door shut at all the turns
a life of evil's fawning
with every bridge she's crossed to burn

but amidst her forest walls
banishment for all their sins
she was found by her charming one so tall
and he gave her his love to believe in

now she abides with him wherever he'll be
be it by moonlight or rising sun
yet all the darkness he cannot see
for their voices have only just begun

and when he calls and cannot find her
she's lost just out of reach
holding her screams in so they'll not stir
then his life she can't impeach

for it's when beside him she can't break through
in slumber through the haze
she wakes to feel their evil brew
laughing at her beyond the maze

if she's quiet so as not to wake him
if she runs afar so as not to hear
she'll ignore sanity's reaper ever so grim
and smile past her fears

caught beneath her dungeon floor
she's trapped between the past and now
drudging closer to the bridge near his door
and all that life with him might endow

a story of one so hauntingly lost
never really has an end
be it happily ever after crossed
which way is she supposed to bend

the path for light is there to take
half a bridge past the road too narrow
no conditions on love is her gambled stake
she'll be home free at the cry of the sparrow

laughter through the melieu
tears through the pain
quips, she has a few
but she's still waiting for the rain

this tale can end in kaleidosope prose
or maybe just some ancient ode
she'll never run too far he'll suppose
and she thinks his love will handle the load [comments] => 5 [counter] => 156 [topic] => 48 [informant] => jaeann [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

What a story you have weaved. It leaves the reader with the ability to interpret this in a variety of ways. It is mysterious and captivating.

Quite impressive. And intricately told. Bravo!
