As I bleed into this chalice
Broken by my own animosity
As fear tightens its noose
And slices vein after vein
Leaving me thin and despondent

I take the bloodied chalice
Into my stained, blackened hands
And tip it over my head
The blood christening my hair
And pooling, congealing at my feet
I raise my shaking arms heavenward
As life flows from the crevasses in my skin
And ponder if I have been freed from the demons

Joel this is incredible.. shorter than usual but definitely worth reading. I absolutely love the line: "The blood christening my hair". It just held something.. different, controversial maybe. i liked it :)

Oh this was sad to read.
It had a helplessness to it that really touched me.
Dark and very well expressed.

I wrote something called "Burden" after seeing The Passion that this reminds me of. I can relate to all the questions posed here and all the experience written into it. Nice stuff. God does allow us to fall pretty far before He stretches out His hand and even then we find it hard to believe we are on solid ground. Yes, I know these feelings and you have described them with both depth and clarity.

This was disturbingly sweet, and extrodinarily exceptional. Thank you for sharing.
